videos from RMNP

I'll give it another try with the videos. I had to break down and open up a YouTube Channel. You know what that means - now I'll have to take more video. And that will take more time - time that I don't have. UGH - sometimes I thik I'm my own worst enemy!

Feel free to throw out some constructive criticism, but remember - these are my first attempts at videos!

that's one actively feeding trout, wow! will be heading up to RMNP Columbus Day, yeah!

I don't think he was feeding - I believe he's just keeping other trout out of his spawning redd

Wow, that elk video is so cool. I've never seen a wild elk, let alone one bugle. I bet hearing it will give a person goose bumps!

Kari - usually in the middle of Sept. thre will be dozens, if not hundreds , of elk in this meadow. But it has been so hot out there they haven't moved down yet. A good vid like this would have the elk bugling constantly, and occasionally fighting

Hey Joe. Both good video's. The first one gives you a good look at a trout in the "slot". The elk one continues to amaze me with the sound that comes out of that big animal. Good job.

Damn, Wolfy. Seems every time I turn around you're posting something lately!! And thank you!

That was one impressive elk. Was the video shot with a digital camera?

Sweet! Those are some great videos. Some things you can only see 'out West.'

Hey Casey. Yes, the videos are from my digital camera. Handheld, too (I was expecting to have more "shake " in them) It is a Samsung TL 220, and so far, I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I love the trout chasing out the smaller trout! Great vid. I hope to add video to my blog next year. We'll see how it goes. =)

So was the camera zoomed in, or was the elk as close as it looks?

Well, Wolfy, my hat's off to you! Those are both very well done video's. I really liked just the sound of the stream with the fish working the redd, and, then the beautiful elk and the bugle. I could play that sound over and over again. Great job!

Thaks for all the comments, guys.

Clif - the camera was zoomed in about 2x. That elk eventually walked to within 30' of me, though. I wish the mic would have caught the bugling a little better, but he was proabably 25 yards away.

So this first one is a trout. Nice looking video. Get a waterproof and do underwater video. That is the next thing I'm gonna try. Trout video was recent or last fall? Doubt they be on the redds until late October through November?

Mark - the first one ofthe trout was shot on Sept. 16 this year. At about 8.800 ft in elevation, the spring-summer-fall gets compressed pretty tightly. It'll be snowing there soon (if it hasn't already) and, by Nov., it'll be starting to ice up.
