Are you a Bass Fisherman? Flowing Waters Giveaway!!

A few posts back, I made note of the fact that I had passed the 100 Followers threshold. It still amazes me that more than 100 people would find this blog interesting enough to follow, but I digress. I also mentioned that I would probably hold some kind of a Giveaway. Well - the time is now!

I'm sitting at my computer, listening to the howling winds outside as the Chicago area braces for what is forecast to be one of the worst snowstorm / blizzards ever. Up to 20" of snow is forecast tonight into tomorrow, with winds up to 50 mph. It is blowing like hell right now, and I'm glad I'm inside. With a nice glass of red wine. And a little buzz.

So, Joe - tell us about this GIVEAWAY!!

Here's the deal - this one is for you if you are a BASS FISHERMAN. The product shown below is what is being offered to a lucky reader. The rules to enter are incredibly simple and easy:

1) If you don't already FOLLOW this blog - sign up as a Follower
2) Post a comment telling me the size of your biggest bass, and what you caught it on. If you've NEVER caught a bass, but want to - state just that in the post!

It's that simple. Could it be any easier to enter to win this lure pack??

I will use the famous RNG (Random Number Generator) on Sunday, February 6 at 7 PM Central time and announce the winner that night.

And, for you Fly Fishermen out there - don't fret - there is a GIVEAWAY coming for you too!!

(Package includes: Strike King Pro Buzz buzzbait, Strike King Bitsy titanium Elite Spinnerbait, Blue Fox Vibrax #3 spinner, Harrison - Hogue Big Eyed Pro Frog, Rapala Rattling Suspending Shad Rap #5, Rapala CD 7, Rapala Deep Running Minnow Rap 9, Lucky Craft Staysee 90 SP, Eagle Claw Trokar EWG hooks - 4/0, Yamamoto SW 5" Swimbait, Yamamoto 4" Senko, Kalin 5" Lunker Grub, Strike King 4.5" Bleeding Tubes)

I am a follower of Flowing Waters and my biggest bass went from the tip of my pinky to my elbow. (Didn't have anything to officially measure it.) It was caught on a buzzbait in the dark after a storm. That's the fish that really got me hooked on bass fishing.

Stay safe up there, we're getting thunder and lightning with our snow here in Peoria.

I am a follower and I caught a 10 pounder two summers ago in the heat of August. If I would have caught her in April, she would have gone 12 easy. Pulled her in on a swim bait.

My best is a 5 pounder from Lake Delavan in Wisconsin. She bit a 10" powerbait in red shad.

HI Wolfy! Generous giveaway! Count me in!

My biggest bass was a smallie! 18-inches and no one was there to see it. Marked it's length on my arm and released it. Caught on a (hope this doesn't ruin my chances) live minnow.

My biggest bass was a 4lb smallmouth caught in Lake Washington 16 years ago. I think it was my last since I moved from the USA and only fish saltwater now. I caught it on a buzz bait with a soft plastic worm tail.
Stay warm.
Cheers

Hi Wolfy,
Now then my biggest bass was not quite what you had in mind, 'twas a 3lb common sea bass (Morone labrax)and was caught on a lug worm and peeler crab combination (nothing subtle there then)far too long ago. Although different to what you were thinking these are excellent sport and eating. Being as they're predatory I wouldn't mind having a crack at them with them there lures (or pike for that matter.
Hope the weather relents for you, although watching a storm from a warm room with the lights out and a wee dram in hand is a great way to spend an evening.
All the best,
John

I've caught lots of bass...but no really big ones. I guess my biggest was around 20 inches and was a Susquehanna smallmouth caught on a zara spook fishing a warmwater discharge from a power plant. Anyway, the blog looks great and I'd like to be considered by the RNG.

My biggest bucketmouth was 18" caught on a jig and trailer in Boulder, CO last year. I hope to go back and better that this year.

My biggest smallie was 21" caught on a 6" purple lizard in Northern Minnesota.

Both are in my Hall of Fame page with links to the stories.

Thax for the giveaway, Wolfy!

Fishing is something I've always wanted to do more of, but just haven't. I don't really know what I'm doing. I think the longest bass I ever caught was less than a foot. So I'm a follower and hope to win so I can learn some fishing! Thanks.

I can't tell you the exact size, but I know when I was first starting to fishing with my grandpa, I caught a small mouth that was HUGE!!, well it was to me when I was 4 or 5. Looking back at the pictures now, I'd have to say it was around 14", but man was he fat!! If I'm remembering right, that was caught on my very first Rapala he got me.. Current day it was a 18" Smallie out of a farm pond, using a Carolina rigged Motor Oil colored worm.. Hmm.. This is making me want summer to get here quicker now.. Thanks.. Haha

I am a follower of Flowing Waters and the biggest Largemouth I've boated to date is a 5.5lb that was caught on the Lower French River in Northern Ontario. I caught it pitching a jig and craw trailer into grass.

The largest Smallmouth I've caught to date was about a 4lb on Lake Erie caught on a dropshot rig.

I am a follower and my best catches are 6.5# on a live dad back in the day when I could not catch them on artificals.

I don't count the mentioned above anymore, so I say 5.62 on a gunfish.

I Follow.

My biggest bass was caught when I was about 10 years old at my great Aunt's Farm Pond in Pennsylvania. I got it on a buzzbait. As I was bringing it up on shore my line broke. I was able to reach down and grab the buzzbait before it got back in the water. I forget how much it weighed. I think it was 6lbs something, but it might have been 7lbs something.

My personal best bass to date is a 44lb beauty. She went 46 inches on the tape and was safely released to make more of her kind.

The fish ate a chunk of bunker (menhaden) in the spring of 2008 in the Fire Island Inlet here on Long Island.

Oh........ wait...... did you mean Largemouth Bass??? LOL!!!

Kirk Mantay said...

Oh - stripers count?

Probably the four favorites would be a 38" striper caught on light tackle on the edge of vegetation (Chester River, MD), using a broken back Challenger floating minnow, a 17" smallmouth caught in the Youghiogheny River (MD/WV) on a red & black rooster tail, a 3lb largemouth caught on ultralight (rebel popper) on a public, heavily fished pond in hot weather (eastern MD), and a citation spotted bass (19") caught on ultralight tackle and a mini-popper in 95 degree weather after 3 days of nearly useless fishing in southern North Carolina in July.

I know this giveaway is over and I am holding out for the fly fisher one. but I did want to share a quick story...
I will be totally honest here... My biggest bass was caught from a gravel pit pond when they were protecting their beds. I droped a crawdad in the nest and let it snag on a rock. The movement of the rock created some dust.. The owner of the castle evicted the crawdad. Mr. crawdad had a little sticky thing near his mouth.. 7.5 lbs.. and a head that would beat most 10s.

Haha, my biggest was on my first solo fishing while backpacking in Henry Coe State Park at Lake Kelly. It was about 8 inches caught on a 'slip bobber' and green rubber bug given to me by an old timer in the parking lot who had been fishing there for years. I doubt I would have caught anything with my beginners mishmash of gear. I threw the bass back, as the guy said the smaller ones aren't worth it after you cut the worms out, anyway, the crappie I caught were plenty for a dinner side dish.

Need more gear, wish me luck :)
